The Buildings
1860s Sayler-Swartsel House Reflects both Greek and Gothic Revival architectural styles. Although, additions have been made through the years, the house maintains its original character. 1830s Philips Swartsel House Constructed of brick, the house typifies the Federalist style and is located on Aukerman Creek Road on the west side of the center. 1813 Log House A notable example of Society efforts to preserve historically significant structures. Dismantled and moved from Lewisburg in 1975, it houses pre-1840 artifacts. 1850s Smokehouse The white oak 1850 structure sits on the site of the original smokehouse. The herb garden is also located in the same area. Turn of the Century Bank Barn Artifacts displayed in the barn reflect agricultural changes from early 19th century to early 20th century. Educational Building Formerly a wagon shed, the facility now serves as a meeting and lunch room Exhibit Hall The hall is an ever-changing panorama of life in Preble County of YesterYear.
